1000V Testing Processes (According to ASTM F1505-94/IEC 900)

Protection & Quality

Anglo American Enterprises Corp. distributes KNIPEX safety insulated tools. KNIPEX has produced high quality safety insulated tools for the world market since 1980. KNIPEX safety insulated tools undergo extensive inspection and testing prior to factory release. All tools meet the stringent standards of ASTM F1505-94/IEC 900:1987 (International Electrotechincal Commission) or VDE0680/Part 1. Tools conforming to the ASTM standard have been individually inspected and tested to 10,000 volts.
Testing for dielectric strength
KNIPEX insulated tools are safety tested individually. All tools have been tested at a voltage of 10,000 V a.c.. They are approved for 1000 V a.c., which provides a 10-fold margin of safety.
Testing for cold impact strength
Testing is conducted at temperatures of -15 degrees farenheit. The insulating material retains the toughness necessary to withstand knocks safely without breaking or splitting.
Insulation Resistance Testing
After immersing in water for 24 hours the tools are tested at 10,000 V a.c. for 3 minutes. Simultaneously any leakage current is measured. Neither a sparkover from the insulation to the bare plier head nor a breakdown through the insulation is acceptable.
Dielectric Testing
No dielectric breakdown under a pressure of 15 FT. LBS at a temperature of +158 degrees farenheit at a test voltage of 5000 V a.c.
Testing of adhesiveness
The adhesion of the insulating material is tested to ensure firm bonding to the basic tool-for example on pliers at a tensile load of 375 Ft. LBS. after being stored for 168 hours at +158 degrees farenheit.
Combustibility testing
The low flammability properties of our insulation material eliminates all fire risk.
